Dr. Ervin Gömbös, Professor Emeritus joined the IBS as Director of Studies on the 1st May 1991, the foundation date of the School. He held this position for 12 years. On the eve of the accreditation of the School he was named Deputy Head of the School. In 1991 the owners sent him to the UK to negotiate the cooperation with Oxford Brookes University. After a week he returned with the later accepted draft Memorandum of Cooperation. Between 1998 and 2003 he was the Head of the Department of Informatics. Over the years he taught informatics, statistics, and mathematics. Earlier he worked for the Hungarian Central Statistical Office for 25 years. In between he was a staff member of the UN Statistics Office for 5 years in New York.
