The Programmes
IBS offers the following MSc programme in Vienna with 2 intakes/year, September and February:
The programme - taught in English – is highly practical and aims to equip students with all the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful international business career. Please click on it to find further details.
The programme consists of 2 on-campus semesters with taught classes and 1 dissertation writing semester, modules are delivered in teaching blocks and graduates receive the MSc degree of The University of Buckingham.
The language of tuition is English. The schedule makes it possible for students with a full-time job to participate as classes are on weekday evenings (6-9 p.m.) and on Saturdays (9 a.m.-4 p.m.). Classes are 90-minute seminars in small groups. There are no lectures! The programme results in 90 ECTS.
Structure of the programme (September 2025 intake)
- September - December 2025: Semester 1 - taught classes
- February - May 2026: Semester 2 - taught classes
- June - December 2026: Semester 3 - dissertation writing (no need to be on the campus)

The Campus is in the city centre, at 9 Rennweg (3rddistrict), right next to Belvedere.
IBS Vienna offers a different experience to what we offer on our Budapest campus: it is an exclusive learning hub in a prime location in downtown Vienna, akin to an executive training centre. Our students here typically balance a very full work-study schedule and therefore demand an exclusive service and a more focused approach. Student life at IBS Vienna is like a modern corporate experience: in our office-like environment we provide everything that makes studying more comfortable, including free water and coffee, snacks and on-demand library services.
Our Campus Manager serves as an on-site representative of the Budapest campus and their mission is to make sure our students have an outstanding learning experience throughout the programme. Our Vienna-based professors are experienced academics with a solid track record in business and deliver interactive workshops and seminars packed with real-life case studies. Finally, our Budapest-based staff regularly visits the Vienna campus to assist students in achieving their goals and tailor the experience to their needs.

- sufficient English skills and motivation that we check with an Orientation Interview (conducted via Zoom). You must have an official English language certificate (e.g. IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 79, Duolingo 120 etc. or Medium of Instruction cerificate for admission.

The overall programme fee is EUR 12,800 with a one-time registration fee of EUR 900 for non-EU citizens and EUR 30 for the DHL delivery of your visa support document. The overall fee can be paid in 2 parts, EUR 7,330 after a successful MSc interview and EUR 6,400 before semester 2 starts. There is no payment for semester 3.
Upon the online application, you will have to transfer EUR 100 application fee (non-refundable).
Austrian Residence Permit Application
Please find a list of requirements to start with:
- Fully completed and signed application form for a residence permit for pupils (Aufenthaltsbewilligung "Schüler”), not for students (Studierende) as the registration of IBS in Austria requires a SCHÜLER permit,
- Recent colour photograph, size between 3.5 x 4.5 cm and 4.0 x 5.0 cm,
- Valid passport,
- Birth certificate,
- Notification of admission of IBS (issued after IBS receives your payment),
- Proof of sufficient financial means to finance your stay for 12 months,
- Proof of accommodation in Austria: e.g. accommodation contract of a student hall of residence,
- Proof of health insurance valid from entry to the beginning of your studies in Austria.
- Police record/certificate of good conduct (where available).
As the application requirements can vary in each country, please contact the nearest Austrian Consulate for an exact list of requirements!
If your residence permit is granted, you will need to apply for a type D visa at the Austrian Consulate that grants you one entry to Austria.
The residence permit for pupils allows you to work. Please note that due to the type of residence permit you need to apply for, your family members are not allowed to apply for a dependent visa to Austria.
Accommodation
Please arrange your accommodation by yourself as IBS does not have a dormitory in Vienna. You can find accommodation options on our website.
