If you are a non-EU student, and if you have the insurance recommended by IBS, this is what you will have to do if you fall ill.
Which health insurance is available to students with non-EU citizenship?
Non-EU students can buy the STUDIUM health insurance by Generali. This insurance is accepted by the National Directorate of Aliens Policing.

What is not covered by the Generali Studium Insurance?
Treatments that can be connected to a chronic/already existing health problem.
What should you do if you feel sick?
- call +36 1 465 3784 and explain your problem. They speak English.
- If your case is not an emergency, you will be given an appointment and an address via email 1-2 days after your phone call.
Make sure you keep the appointment you receive. If you cannot make your appointment make sure to CANCEL IT VIA EMAIL AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE your appointment.
Payment and reimbusrement
You will need to pay for your treatment on the spot and then the insurance company will reimburse you later. Always ask for an “ÁFA-s számla”*.

What is needed for reimbursement?
If you receive medical treatment or buy medicines, you should always ask for a special invoice ("ÁFÁ-s számla”). Medicine costs will only be reimbursed upon providing papers from a doctor. Also ask for all your medical papers if you receive a treatment, and fill a form with your Hungarian bank details.

How do I receive my reimbursement?
Refunds by the insurance company will be transferred to your bank account in Hungary. The Insurance company will pay you back the costs within approximately 1 month.
