Foreign students who arrived from a third country to a Hungarian university were granted visas on a priority basis on the grounds of "national interest". Although, with a few exceptions, it was not possible to apply for a residence permit in Hungary between 1 January and 29 February, the universities hosting foreign students were able to receive them in time thanks to the special procedure.

50% of the International Business School's students come from abroad to study for the Hungarian and British (or optionally Irish) degrees offered by the institution. They come from more than 100 countries, most of which are third countries subject to visa requirements in our country. The partial lifting of the visa moratorium at the beginning of the year has therefore been a great help in welcoming students not only to the IBS but to all Hungarian universities that welcome foreign students.

In order to ensure a smooth arrival, the IBS management adjusted the dates of the freshers' programme for the spring semester, and compressed the classes to allow time for the admitted students to arrive and enrol. Thus, the semester started in mid-April instead of the usual beginning of February, with a schedule that would allow students to complete their requirements before the summer break.

The restructuring and patience paid off, with the number of students enrolled far exceeding previous years.
